Howard Slater, who was responsible for the construction of over one million square feet of development in Northern California, has died. CHICO, Calif. - Howard Slater, the former president of Slater & Son General Contractor, died last weekend. Slater graduated from Chico High School in 1966 before studying at Chico State. He was responsible for the construction of over one million square feet of development in Northern California. He was also involved in the community, serving as the master of the Chico Masonic Lodge, on the board of the Chico Chamber of Commerce, Chico Economic Planning Commission, the North Valley Community Foundation and the Chico Sunrise Rotary.
