CHICO — Seventy years and still going strong … sort of. Seventy years of solid service to Chico students is the legacy for seven schools which opened in 1953. Chico Junior High School, along with Rosedale, Chapman, Sierra View and Parkview elementary schools, and Fairview High School, which opened as Jay Partridge Elementary School and kept that designation until 2005, when it was dissolved. Nord Elementary School was built using funds from the same bond issue, but now is a public charter school.
